A Right To Have Fun

A Right To Have Fun

People love jumping on the “all students do is have fun and I hate them I hate them I HATE THEM for the fun they are having and I am not” bandwagon. I can’t understand why they would do, but come on people, give us a break: we are paying for it. The way I see it, for the money that we pay the system every year we should be able to do whatever we want. As long as we More

Good Old Uncle Rodney

Good Old Uncle Rodney

Back in the day, my Uncle Rodney was a kind of roaming advisor for Scottish Water. He’d drive around checking that Scottish Water’s water wasn’t poisoning anyone, and check up on anyone who thought it might be. The majority of the complaints came from people who said that the water tasted funny. “Not our problem,” he’d say, “unfortunately that’s because the pipes in this area are about 300 years old.”

And he wasn’t joking. The pipes were really, really old.

Morning Person Or Night Person, Does It Really Matter?

posted by admin in 1

Personally, I despise getting up for lectures at some silly time like 9am. It’s an absolute horror! I’ve always been more of an evening person and I’ve never found it to be a problem: I get the same work done, just later in the day when most other people are asleep.

The only problem with this being a night person is you come under regular attack from people who get up early and enjoy it (“The best part of the More

Deal With It

When it comes to being rejected, life can be more than a bit cruel. In fact, sometimes you get the impression that life really enjoys kicking you down. Which is absolutely nothing in comparison to the pleasure it gets in kicking you when you are down, of course. Nothing beats that. And when nobody’s looking, expect the boot to go in full-force and hurt a LOT.

A Belgian Man Runs 365 Marathons in 365 days

So I am buying my cleaning supplies at the store and heard this one about a marathon runner.

While most people in the world would struggle to get to the first checkpoint in any marathon a Belgian man has just raised the bar for all aspiring athletes by running 365 marathons in 365 days. To put that in simpler terms, that is a single marathon for every single day of the year (assuming it More

Time In The Day

We all do it, yes you, even though you’re the kind of person who decides you are not that kind of person without even having finished reading the sentence yet (which you have now, you must have if you’re reading this): we all say “there’s not enough time in the day”. While this is possibly true, I have a bone to pick with this reasoning. More of a back-bone actually, one that says there are 24 hours in a day, More

New Perspective

There are two ways of looking at being stuck in education: you can think of it as a bad thing because you’re not earning tons of money and stuff, or you can think of it as a time in your life that you will never get again. That’s the one I’ve been going for lately, and it would seem it is now providing me with lots of positive energy, which can only be a good thing if you ask me. More

Stuck Or Un-Stuck?

For a while, and as you will know if you’ve already read the About bit at the bottom of this page, you’ll know that I am to be stuck in education for a while and that it was my choice. You will also know, if you have bothered to read my blog, that I do like a good moan about it. Only today I have come to a conclusion: knowledge is power, so by the time I leave the educational More

How To Live

posted by admin in 1

Now, the title of this post might seem ridiculous, as you would assume that ALL people know how to live, but I can assure you it isn’t. Walking through the halls of university, you see some pretty scary things – pasta growing life-forms which I’m sure are as-of-yet undiscovered by modern science, and worse stuff that I won’t mention here – and this is what this post is about. Stopping the scary things. Here, if you are at uni, or More

Food Revolution!

Listening to my mother on the phone the other day, I realised once again how truly lucky us modern-day students are. OK, sometimes we aren’t as lucky: we have to pay massess of money towards fees that the students of yester-year never had to pay before, and we get charged just as much for London flights , all because we forget our student cards just when we need that vital discount, but what about the food we get to eat?
