When I’m not busy studying, hanging around with my friends or spending too much of my measly allowance down at the pub, I love to surf the Net. And this (unfortunately) has become common knowledge over the last few years… which is why so many family members are now always asking me to look for certain things for them. If fact, you wouldn’t believe how many Internet-based chores I have been given by my parents, my grandparents, my sister, my sister’s boyfriend, my cousin….

Sometimes I will have to scour the World Wide Web merely to find the answer to eleven across from Saturday’s giant crossword puzzle. On other occasions I’ll be instructed to find a certain elusive size of sewing machine needle. And once I even had to track down a pest control Blackburn service for my uncle who had just found a large colony of rats underneath his ancient garden shed. Like I say, you wouldn’t believe half of the things I am asked to look for…

Needless to say, this can be a real pain in the ass if I am trying to do something of my own online! And there has been more than one occasion when I really haven’t felt like finding a cheap box of water filters or a cut price bird cage. However, because I love my family I have never once refused to help them out; besides, none of these family members have a clue how to use the Internet for themselves…

I suppose I should try and stop all of this ‘cyber pestering’really. I mean, it can be a proper nuisance when I am right in the middle of doing some research for my studies. But my family have got me over a barrel you see… The only way I could get them off my back would be to buy each of them a computer of their own and then I’d need to show them how to use it. However, because I am only a poor student, I can’t afford to go out and purchase half a dozen new laptops. Besides, even if I could, I certainly wouldn’t have the time (or the patience) to sit down with each of them and teach them how to shop online for themselves!

Oh well, we all have our cross to bear, don’t we? And for me, the ‘shopping for family members’thing looks as if it is destined to be an on-going concern…

Some of my friends who are also planning to do a teaching training course, have been trying to convince me to sign up for a prepaid credit card for some time now. I have never took much notice of them before as I thought that the cards were pointless and wasn’t worth my time to apply for one.

I decided that it might be a good idea to look in to them when I had problems getting my bank card to function and couldn’t withdraw any cash and if it hadn’t been for my mate Tom being there with his prepaid credit card I don’t know what I would have done. Tom always carries one around with him even if he doesn’t have any cash loaded on it. He says that the card is useful in emergencies and has helped him out of a sticky situation more times than he can remember.

After Tom’s prepaid credit card saved the day I decided to look into what made these cards worthwhile. I have compiled a list of all the main pros and cons of these cards so they can be easily compared;

Pros

You can use the card in the same way you would any other card

You don’t have to open a bank account to get access to the card

Other people can load money on to the card for you

Money can be loaded on to the card online or over the phone

The card can save you in an emergency if you have preloaded cash on it

The card can help you to manage your finances better as you can choose to only load on to it what you want to spend

There is no overdraft or credit facility so you won’t run up a debt

Cons

You cannot build a good credit rating with a prepaid debit credit card

You may have to pay expensive fees for the account application and opening

You will incur fees when loading cash to the card

You will incur fees when using the card to make any type of purchase

Whatever you decide, getting one of these cards is really useful and has helped me in numerous ways.

Being what some may call a “career student”, I know all about insurance policies. Us students aren’t trusted at all, as you know! We need insurance just to boil the kettle, or to make some pasta. But seriously, I do think it’s a joke.

Things like horse insurance and car insurance I can understand. These things make sense. But pasta sauce insurance? Surely there can’t be many bad situations which have occurred from pasta being overcooked.

Of course, we don’t help ourselves. Us students have a long track-record of burning things, ruining things and very much messing things up. So what’s the answer to this grave problem? Well, I know I am doing my bit:

It’d be like what happened when that novel Fight Club came out and loads of fight clubs started springing up all over…

…I have started a club at uni which is devoted to being better at being students. In this club we go out of our way to be better at everything: we don’t mess things up, we don’t upset people and we are carving a new signature of reputation into the world’s consciousness. Yes we are! (Now THERE’S a speech that really would be fit for a king!)

Will this change the whole world overnight? Probably not. But if more clubs were to spring up all over the UK then who knows? Maybe a serious and forthright revolution would occur. That could not be bad! It’d be like what happened when that novel Fight Club came out and loads of fight clubs started springing up all over the United States. We could be like them, students, we could be like them…

Or failing that we just keep paying for our insurance polices and accept that none of us will ever truly change. Yeah, that’s probably more likely me thinks.

(Note: this blogger takes absolutely no responsibility for anything going wrong as a result of you starting up your own brand-new club, OK? Good, glad we could get that sorted out!)

So I was sat around moaning again to my flatmates about how I still couldn’t believe I was going to be in education for like forever! And I was feeling sorry for myself that I had no money because my school and study hours were so hectic that I couldn’t get hired, not even for a part time job, which sucks as I need money. Every student needs money and I was fed up of feeling like the only one without any. That is when I came up with a great idea…

I always knew that eBay could be a nice little money maker but I had never actually taken advantage of the site itself, but now I was ready and I was a man on a mission that not even a hurricane could stop…ok well maybe a hurricane but whatever.

All I needed to figure out was what I was going to sell. So I started looking round my flat and nothing was jumping out at me. Then a stroke of genius hit me, my granddad did house removals and he always had heaps of stuff he was trying to sell or get rid of. Obviously I was straight on the phone to granddad telling him how I had planned to become a millionaire and I wouldn’t forget him when I made the big time. Anyway….

Gramps told me sure I could have the stuff, he had two garages full. I got myself up to the garages and started taking photos and descriptions and by the end of the weekend I had listed over 100 items. To lure people in I offered the same day courier service so they could be sure to have their item delivered that day if they purchased early in the morning or late evening.

The eBay fanatics went wild for it and I managed to make myself a nice little earner. I am such an entrepreneur.

Most people who decide to take up running as a fitness regime, head for the nearest running circuit, neighborhood parks, pavements or may be a treadmill. Other runners take up weight training to hone up those muscles and build strength. Seldom do they willingly head for the nearest hill.

Well recent I did and boy was I surprised as to how hard it was for me and I was only going about two miles. I had to spot many times along the way it reminded me of some it support services London that don’t work consistently. I felt broken down.

Typically, I learnt, most runners find hill running to be among the most painful and strenuous forms of training. However, hill running is one of the best forms of resistance training and that’s what I wanted. It tones up the running muscles and strengthens the ankles and leg muscles, resulting in greater leg power, greater stride economy, more powerful kick-offs and reduced injuries.

Of course, hill running is little different from your regular jaunt around the park. It requires practice to develop good hill running form. Runners must pump their arms and lean forward a little while running uphill whilst maintaining a swift and uniform pace all the way up. To improve stride length and hip elasticity, runners should lift their knees as high as possible. But be wary of incurring injuries by trying to be too ambitious. It takes time, patience and practice to develop good hill running form.

So instead of steering clear of the hills, get up-close and personal. And it doesn’t cost a penny; just put on your running shoes and find the nearest hill for a power workout.

Being a student, you learn how to make a little money go a long, long way; or you do if you’re me, for example, in which case you scrimp and save and create ingenious solutions to problems that have vexed society for the last million years. Since you have nothing – or almost nothing – it’s easy to be frugal and to find the cheapest and most suitable options available. Or at least that used to be the way it was. Much as people talk about students being poor, the reality is that for many students, things couldn’t be easier and more comfortable. In fact, some students are doing far better than people twice their age – especially seeing as they may never have to pay that money back (if they don’t earn enough to be forced to).

Watching TV the other day – I admit it: I was waiting for 4×4 cars to come on, tearing through the mud, and I came across a documentary instead – I found myself watching a reality show about students and how they go about their day-to-day lives. It looked at 4 students who were total money-spending-nightmares and attempted to show them how they could be more frugal and thus not have such a big debt to pay back. I was appalled to see that the documentary only half worked as intended. Although the money-saving expert who presented the show managed to get 2 of the students to change their bad habits, he had little success with the other 2. And you know what? Well, I shall tell you: it really sickened me! It made me wonder if this was representative of every student in the country, and to what extent these problems affect us.

The country has developed these youngsters, and maybe if someone had said something sooner then things would have changed

To my mind, it isn’t enough to just ask the students to spend money. These people need real-world examples of how failing to heed this good advice will impinge on their future lives to come. Until that happens students everywhere will think that spending way beyond their budget is nothing too worry about.

Of course, it isn’t all the students'fault. The country has developed these youngsters, and maybe if someone had said something sooner then things would have changed. The fact that we now have an uphill battle on our hands is proof that something has gone very wrong in the last few years. Where it will end, none of us can really know.

My mate Darren who I am currently studying with has started losing his hair. He’s only nineteen and it’s kind of getting him down somewhat, which is understandable, you don’t really want to start thinking about getting a hair transplant before the age of twenty.

Baldness could affect any of us at some point in our lives and some of us just have to accept it as an inevitable evil of getting old. Until it happens to us there’s no knowing how much it will affect our confidence. Also it’s not something that people can do much about, unless they can spend large sums of money on treatments that may or may not work. Why then do we accept that people who are going bald can be made fun of so easily in our society? If you call an overweight person fat or tubby it is seen as a terribly offensive thing to do yet in my opinion fat people can always go on a diet or do a bit of exercise to try and get themselves into shape. Not that I in any way dislike fat people, quite the contrary, if someone is happy with the size they are then why should there be any problem? But if it’s offensive to make fun of someone who is overweight, why isn’t it offensive to make fun of someone loosing his or her hair?

Luckily for Darren he can carry of a skinhead well enough to embrace the fact that he is going bald, but it took him a while to accept this.

I was brought up in a household where earning money was never considered a big deal. Doing some chores for the neighbors and supplementing one’s pocket money was considered a good thing. Of course, I never got lavish praise for it either. My parents felt that dignity of labour was too basic a thing to be fussed about.

However, earning pocket money during the summer vacations by doing odd jobs around the house is not the same as earning serious money as a student. We all have done such chores in the past. We never thought of saving for the future or of starting our own business with the money earned when we complete our student life. The money we earned was spent on junk food and shy first dates.

Thinking of earning money in student life for serious objectives is a completely different thing. For starters, it is very important to balance the study and work life properly. Earning ten thousand pounds in a year but ending up spending an additional year at college does not make sense. On the other hand, completing college with lots of medals and plaudits but asking Dad to send some pocket money over does not make sense either.

The best way to balance this conundrum is to focus on skills that one has learned in school to earn some extra money. A person studying to become cosmetology expert can easy write about hair restoration online to earn extra money. Such an approach acts as a revision of the syllabus and improves chances of getting better grades.

School…when names of things to have a go at are being dished out, this one is always in the top ten of any person who has ever lived. And it’s not hard to see why: you spend your entire childhood there, and then, just as you think you are safe, you get even MORE pressure to do more school stuff. Oh, they dress it up as “uni” but we all know what that means! More flippin'school!

But wait a second…aren’t we overlooking something? I believe so, and it is this: teachers are actually great. No, make that amazing. OK, some of them can be a pain in the bum sometimes, but let’s not have a go at them all. Here are a few reasons why teachers are fantastic and should be much celebrated:

1) They know more than you. Sorry but they do. So listen up, because a teacher is possibly the single greatest resource you could ever hope to come across. When you think about it they’re like a book who can talk and smile and answer complex questions. How good is that?

2) Teachers have been there: they know learning is tough, they know about exams, they know ABOUT IT ALL. So don’t fall into the trap of thinking that just because they are older than you they are worthless. The reality is far from it!
3) Teachers can instruct you like nobody else can. They are the only thing between you and a job at a red diesel suppliers , so listen to what they have and run with that knowledge. You are going to need it!

So I share a room with my friend and classmate John, and one night as I was trying to get apple mac repair London and studying I heard him breathing in a funny way. The next morning I told him what I heard and suggested that he visit his doctor. When came back from the doctor later that day he told me his doctor believed that he had Hypopnea.

Hypopnea or shallow breathing while sleeping is a problem which we often tend to overlook. In hypopnea syndrome, very little air is inhaled in as opposed to deep diaphragmatic inhaling which is ideal for health. If you suffer from hypopnea often, then it’s time for you to consult a doctor. Like every other sleep disorder, this one also needs treatment.

Shallow breathing during the night can be caused due to a number of medical conditions like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. These diseases restrict the amount of airflow into our lungs, and as a result lead to rapid and shallow breathing. Pulmonary edema can also be a probable factor leading to shallow breathing while sleeping. Breathing can also be affected by anxiety or stress. In fact, an important symptom of anxiety is hyperventilation.

Hypopnea has certain symptoms like a feeling of fatigue and irritation, inability to get good quality sleep, and the overall health of the individual suffers badly. Hypopnea is often accompanied by a panic attack which is also potentially dangerous.

Shallow breathing can be experienced due to a variety of medical issues, so it is very important to a consult a physician in order to ascertain the root of the problem. Use of oxygen therapy and nebulizers can be done. Yoga and meditation can also help to a great extent.
